The More

Some thoughts on one of the most important concepts of Cymdeithas life.

Imagine a circle. Inside there circle are all the things you know, have experienced, have felt, have figured out, have seen. In other words, all that is known to you in one way or another is inside the circle. Other people obviously have other stuff in their circles, as they’ve lived a different life. Now, what is the More? In simple terms, it is everything that is outside of your circle. The thoughts of other people are the More, inventions made next year are the More, songs composed in the future are the More, energies we do not know yet are the More, your guiding spirits, your ancestors, your future, other realms of existence; they all are the More.

In the Cymdeithas the More plays a crucial role in the life of all clan members. This dates back to Eleri Haf, who as a young girl, embarked on a journey to find the More. If you’ve read all the books, you’ll know, that in the end, she found the Cymdeithas and contributed so many things to the clan, that is is difficult to fathom a Cymdeithas without Eleri Haf’s input, her books, her inventions, her philosophy and her understanding of the Lledrith.

For clan members the More is what one looks for, regardless of the field one explores. A kiss? A clan member will look for the More in the kiss. A headache? The clan member will seek the More in it. A dance move? The Cymdeithas person will look for new ways of executing it, new ways of feeling it, new ideas of integrating it into life. So, in other words, v^we could say the Cymdeithas is a mindset. A mindset that is more interested in the unknown, than in the known. Whatever you have in your circle, you already know, all that is outside of it, is the More you can focus on.

There lies a lot of goof stuff in this mindset.

If you start listening for the More in any everyday conversation this will make you a better listener.

If you look for the More in food, you’ll try new things and new recipes.

If you search for the More in music, you’ll probably find the charm in a second voice of a piece, one you never consciously knew existed.

But the More is more.

It is asking a tree for its opinion.

It is paying respect to the logic of an animal.

It is looking at the full moon and finding its blue halo.

It is attending to the sound of pride.

It is enquiring about the origin of an idea.

You get the point. Fact is, that there is nothing more intriguing, nothing more satisfying, nothing more adventurous than embarking on the search of the More.
