Continuous Improvement as understood in the Cymdeithas has two aspects.
Firstly, to avoid repeating mistakes one has identified as such (part of Flooring), and secondly, to constantly look out for the More and to incorporate it into one’s life.
Most DHAs tend to be in repeat mode when it comes to making mistakes. The motto seems to be something like, “Let’s go for another round, friends.” Whether it is addictions (behaviours repeated so many times they take on a life of their own) or misunderstandings in how you see the world or yourself (called worldview or self-image), mistakes are often repeated over and over again. This ruins most efforts of continual improvement or, at the very least, prolongs the process (albeit there seems to be no end to continuous improvement anyway, so one might as well indulge in making mistakes). However, most clan members feel that the looping of mistakes becomes rather boring quite quickly, so they tend to move on to new mistakes.
To stop this cycle, you first need to identify the mistake (mis-take, you took the wrong thing) and then replace it with a version that rings more true to you. Clan members have mostly given up on the notion that there is a static truth itself. It seems more that truth is something individual and context-dependent. While it may be a good idea to ban lying from your life, it can be a necessity once in a while. While confronting someone with your truth can be helpful, it can just as well hurt or even wound another person.
One thing that remains true for most people is that health needs to be prioritized, so any mistakes that you make regarding your health (which usually boils down to eating stuff that isn’t good for you—again a highly individual topic—and to keeping in shape: see Hanaej or Tair Fraich) need to be rectified and not repeated. For many people, this is a process of trial and error, but once your personal truth has been identified, you will do well to stick to not further engaging in this particular mistake. Easier said than done? Not so for clan members, who pride themselves on changing aspects of their personality on a regular basis. (The word “persona” has its origins in ancient Latin. It derives from the Latin word “persōna,” which referred to a mask worn by actors in a play. This term itself is believed to have come from the Etruscan word “phersu,” meaning “mask” or “character.”)
There is a proverb in the Cymdeithas, which goes like this:
“Gwnewch yn siŵr eich bod yn dod o hyd i gamgymeriad y gallwch ei ddisodli â’ch gwirionedd bob yn ail ddiwrnod.”
Find out what it means, and make it a habit.
In summary, we can say that the Cymdeithas places a lot of value on the concept of continuous improvement (referred to as gwella parhaus in the Cymdeithas). People who don’t feel a yearning to engage in the activity mostly don’t become clan members in the first place.
